Missing tumblr

I admit! I miss my tumblog! I have not deleted my account even if I blog now at misseloise.wordpress.com…

8 February 10

Moving on (again!)

I know i know, i am so fickle-minded…

Having started blogging since :

1. year 2007 (blogspot-defunct)

2. revived blogging last September 2009, at iamdaddysgirl.livejournal.com (livejournal-will delete soon)

3.  then wanting more themes / layouts, moved to misseloise.tumblr.com last November 2009 (tumblr-will delete in a few months after i have completely “moved on”). I like you tumblr, but i have to do this. Hahaha.

4. finally to wanting a more professional, journalistic approach to blogging i moved to http://misseloise.wordpress.com/ . I reused the name misseloise, because i like it!

Because misseloise.tumblr.com did not give me the blogging options i could have needed, i’m moving here and (i hope) will most probably stay!

I may have moved blog four times, what matters most is i never gave up. Sorry for all the hassle… I promise i’ll make it worth your time. Please keep visiting my blog!

Why we procrastinate

Yesterday, I organized my beads again and cleaned my beading tools. I may just restart again. I want to restart, but procrastination gets in the way. I have this on-off relationship with my beads… sometimes I love them and give them all of my precious time, oftentimes I ignore them and they just accumulate rust and dust.

It makes me happy and excited visualizing a beaded jewelry project, and after that I wonder who to give it to. Or the possibility of selling what I make online. I know I love it, but why do I always put it off?

Procrastination seems built into human nature, and almost all of us do it at one point in time. Filipinos are more familiar to the term “manana habit,” which is often translated to tagalog as “mamaya na” (much later).

If others, put things off because they see it as difficult and unwanted task, then I may have other reasons for my delayed bead projects. I enjoy doing it so much but I feel I have more urgent things to attend to because it is time consuming. To overcome this, I must convince myself that I am only doing this one hour every night and gradually it becomes a habit.

Sometimes I also feel that I don’t have enough jewelry making skills to be confident about. I fear that others won’t buy what I make, or the receiver won’t like it. Well, the best way is to learn, research and practice! If I am not confident with what I do, how do I expect others to be perceptive of it?

Tell yourself, “This task is easy, I can do it, how hard can it be?” Running the risk of sounding like a crazy woman. Do it when noone else is in the room. Hahaha.

Some quotes related to Procrastination, for us to think about.

Procrastination is the art of keeping up with yesterday.”

- Don Marquis

Putting off an easy thing makes it hard.  Putting off a hard thing makes it impossible.”

- George Claude Lorimer

A year from now, you may wish you had started today.

- Karen Lamb

You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.”

- Martin Luther King Jr.

And I. AM. TAKING. PROBABLY THE. THIRDFIFTH. SIXTH. STEP. I hope this time I can make it though. Wish me luck!

You’ll know that Chinese new year is near, if you see “kiat kiat” fruits and trees or however you want to call it, sprawling around the market.

Both Tangerines and mandarin orange are round golden fruits surrounded by emerald leaves. Their shape and colour symbolize the sun and connect with the yang principle, which represents the positive element and generative force in nature. Thus oranges are considered auspicious fruits and important symbols for the New Year. Tangerines and oranges, symbols of abundance happiness, are a must gift item when visiting family or friends during the 15 days of Chinese New Year celebration. Furthermore tangerines and mandarin oranges are frequently displayed at homes and stores as decoration during Chinese New Year.
Kumquats are slow growing, evergreen shrubs or small trees (from 2.5–4.5 meters tall) with dense branches. Sometimes they bear small thorns. The leaves are dark glossy green. The flowers are pure white, similar to other citrus flowers which borne singly or clustered in the leaf-axils. Kumquat is pronounced Gumgut in the Cantonese, the kumquat is a pun for gold (gum), and for good fortune “Dai Gut”. The Cantonese love to decorate their homes and workplaces with pots of kumquats. This is a symbol of bringing good fortune and wealth. Candied kumquats are one of the necessary preserves for the New Year.Kumquats resemble a miniature oval orange, 3–5 centimeters long and 2–4 centimeters wide. Depending on variety, peel color ranges from yellow to red. Kumquat fruit is generally in season from late autumn to mid-winter, and can be found in most food markets with other produce. Kumquats are frequently eaten raw. As the rind is sweet and the juicy center is sour, the raw fruit is usually consumed either whole, to savor the contrast, or only the rind is eaten. The fruit is considered ripe when it reaches a yellowish-orange stage, and has just shed the last tint of green.

My partner in crime

I wrote this a few months ago, because Mabel’s officemate requested us to compose a letter for her, which was used in their team building / retreat. I found it again as i was deleting messages in my yahoo inbox yesterday. This made me miss her more and i thought of sharing this to you.

=======================================================================

I spent my Tuesday morning, composing this… Not that I don’t know what to tell her, it’s just that I want to make this thing perfect for her. Not quite the blogger / writer that she is, that’s why. Now it’s nearly half of the day, and what have I got? 1 paragraph? Bad Progress… My excuse is I am busy with work, hehehe.

Then I came across this quote thru the internet, which embodies almost everything that we are to each other. Sisters, that is… Bestfriends, and all that jazz!

“She is your mirror, shining back at you with a world of possibilities. She is your witness, who sees you at your worst and best, and loves you anyway. She is your partner in crime, your midnight companion, someone who knows when youare smiling, even in the dark. She is your teacher, your defense attorney, your personal press agent, even your shrink. Some days, she’s the reason you wish you were an only child.” ~Barbara Alpert
